Oh the storm's raged for three days and the damage to our houses we must live with for at, twelve noon a schooner from South Shields seeks shelter within our harbour wall and should she stall Amelia has been called (Chorus) H'away lads and fetch your oars and gather prayers we're off to save the Coupland She's attracting crowds and she wont be going far She's been drinking water now she's dancing on the spa, in the waves where sailors row into a watery grave. The waves crash over her bow They have turned the vessel round! they have turned the vessel right right round! And now, she looks forlorn, she's been worn down by the storm, and thrown into the spa's sea wall where should she fall, Amelia has been called. (Chorus) Charles Beauclerk he stands up on the shore he hauls a rope, but he's never hauled before he wades in deep and he's never seen no more just like the boys of our Amelia (Chorus) Well rocket lines, thrown too the Coupland and the men who make the shore thank to god that they've been saved for Amelia was taken in the waves, all boys, Amelia was taken in the waves (Chorus)

(Refrain) Come and see the Sun, past the forth bridges, past the forth bridges. Come and see the sun, speckling down through thickening clouds Its fifteen years since he last touched gin whisky its another thing and he's calmed right down, his life of sin its winter under waverley bridges again (refrain) Its a cold wind that bites and mauls, its a cold stone floor for bow decked halls he's got his hot food parcel from the bethany van its winter under waverley bridges again (refrain) The tron kirk strikes five to three he's got a special place to be; up by the observatory with friends he'll watch the sunset he'll raise a toast to another year, to absent friends who he holds dear he'll raise a toast to another year, to absent friends who he holds dear and oh, when all the light is done and all his friends have gone its winter under waverley bridges again Come and see the Sun, past the forth bridges, past the forth bridges. Come and see the sun, speckling down through thickening clouds Come and see the sun, speckling down to the cold cold ground.
